I left my company 3 months before my 3 year anniversary. My employer provided a 3 year profit sharing contribution for any employee that reached a three year milestone. Can they make an exception and give me that contribution even though I was short three months? Or will the 401k company not allow the employer to make this exception. Can this employer override the 401k company rule. I left on good terms to start my own company. I am being told it is not their decision to not pay it out. Are they telling the truth?
