What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arizona

Can a person be charged with illegal possession of a firearm if the gun belonged to someone else that happened to be living with him at that time? AND if not, how would you go about proving that the gun was not his? The person being charged was a felon because of a felony charge over 7 years ago that did not involve guns.

If they have access to it, they can very well be charged. Ownership has nothing to do with it. If you're a felon, you should not be living with people who have guns around.

Felons know this but still it happens. A gun safe is the way to prevent this charge. If the felon has no ability to open the safe that is usually OK. Felons are not felons because they are smart though.
