I signed a promisssary note and I paid the note and have no reciept.How binding is a promisary note it was not winessed or notorized.I cannot prove I paid it back

Then, the matter becomes a "he said / she said" situation, and turns upon the Note itself, and your credibility in court. Since you have no proof of payments; e.g., canceled checks, or receipts for payments, you'll undoubtedly lose in court.
