I signed a promisarry note,paid half back and 2 months later paid the other half now the guy holding the note said i still owe him. The second half of the money he lent to someone in my family and is trying to collect from me. How leagl is this promisarry not. I have a letter from him saying I was not resposonsible for the second half now he changed his mind and wants me to pay..........HELP

Liability for note

If you paid back the entire amount due on the note, that ends your liability on the note. You are not liable for a loan he made to another member of your family (other than your wife in some states or your minor child), unless you cosigned the note for that loan, or agreed to be liable for it in some way.
