What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

My son received an annuity due to his father's death in 2007. We would like to withdraw the balance but Prudential wants me to show proof of guardianship of my son. I am his Mom. He has always lived with me, even before his father's death. I have been told several things. I have been told a birth certificate will not work and that I have to hire a lawyer to show guardianship of my son. Can you please advise me of what I need to do?

Thank you very much for your time!

Unfortunately, you will have to get an attorney involved. Prudential is being totally unreasonable however you are not going to be able to resolve this without one.
