What is the name of your state? Illinois

My mom recently sent a postal money order (good as gold) express mail a couple of weeks ago to a collection agency who sent a letter (in writing) to settle an account for 50% of what was owed. I called today to ask if the collection agency would send her a receipt/proof of payment that the balance was paid in full. They stated that my mom would have to call in order to get the status.

1.) Do collection agencies sent the debitor proof of payment once paid?
2.) And this is probably a stupid question so bear with me :D, if it is pretty much "settled" couldnt the collection company let me know the status anyways? Or is it because it was her debt and not mine? (I betcha I just answered that question on my own!:p)

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

A: Ask the CA to make sure; generally no.

A: You win the bet.

By the way, a receipt for a money order is a receipt for a money order. Nothing more.
