Hello,
I have been married for 3 years 7 months. I moved from Australia to be with him here in MS. I brought around $15,000US with me which was spent on the house, redecorating, renovating & furnishing.
He purchased the house about 6 years ago, its in his name.

The marriage has deteriorated - and I need to know if we divorce if I am entitled to any settlement from him. The mortgage is paid from a joint account, but my salary goes into a separate account in my name.

I have no savings of my own left, everything I brought with me went into our home.

Can someone please let me know if I'm going to leave with nothing?

Thank you in advance for any and all advice.

TC.

but...

Thanks for replying. I realise I need an attorney - however I guess what I was trying to get at, is since MS isn't a community property state, am I even entitled to get anything out of it.. can I force the sale of the house for example?

The community property issue has no bearing on this case because you are claiming equitable interest in the property in the amount of $15K.
The exact interest can be determined at settlement if you do get divorced.
