I had my ex husband arrested for battery in June 2000 and filed for divorce in July 2000. We were married in June 1999 and bought a house together in December 1999. We did the divorce ourselves to keep down the expense and I wanted it done quickly. Because I feared him terribly I went along with whatever he said to do. We did not list our home in the divorce papers and I signed a Quick Claim deed over to him for the house. He would call and threaten to kill me and I taped the conversations. I was so afraid of him that when we went to court and the judge asked if there was any property involved I didn't answer, but my ex-husband said "no". A year has gone by and my name is still on that house and I have asked for it to be removed. With a lot of help from family and friends, although I am cautious, he no longer terrifies me as he once did. Do I have any legal recourse to get my name off and sue for my portion of the house?
