my question is on behalf of my brother-in-law. he lives in the state of maryland and separated from his wife about 10 years ago. they have 3 grown children.in 1995 he and his wife hired a lawyer and signed a legal separation. my brother-in-law bought his wife's half of the house and property and is still paying her monthly payments. the land title was put in my brother-in-laws name only and filed at our court house. they are still not divorced and I don't think my brother-in-law wants one. some of his brothers and sisters think that his wife will still get his house and property if he dies. he had a stroke shortly after their legal separation and is disabled physically and is mute so everyone is trying to make what they think is best, happen. can his wife claim any part of his property if something happens to him?
