In Indiana, seller sold house to buyer, and as part of the closing, seller gave buyer exact amount of next property tax installment due. Two years later, buyer receives a notice stating back taxes are due. At time of closing, neither party was aware of any taxes due from prior periods. A title search was performed at closing as well. When you buy a house, do you buy all prior responsibility to such things as property taxes due, or is the seller currently responsible for this?

*A: my opinion is that the Seller is responsible for failing to make sure that the taxes were current at the time of closing and failing to disclose to the Buyer that taxes were n arrears and unpaid.
