What is the name of your state?Missouri
Im not sure if I have posted this in the correct place. I have looked and looked on the internet and cannot find the exact statute...if there is one regarding provinding cigarrettes to a minor. My aunt purchases cigarrettes for the minors at her work. I tell her it is illegal, but i cannot find the statute/law to back it up. Can someone help me find this information about specifically Missouri. Is this only state by state, or could this be a federal issue...Thanks

It is illegal in the US for minors (anyone under 18) to purchase or possess tobacco. Since it is illegal for a minor to have tobacco, it is illegal for someone to supply that tobacco to the minor.

If caught, the minor could be given a citation for "minor in possession of tobacco", and the person providing can be cited also. It does happen, but unfortunately, it doesn't happen often enough.

Here's the link to read about Missouri's laws on youth access to tobacco.
http://www.dhss.mo.gov/SmokingAndTobacco/Kidsread.pdf

Here's the MO law: The law makes it unlawful for any person to sell, provide, or distribute tobacco products to persons under eighteen years of age. (RSMo 407.931) Other states have similar laws.

People don't want to admit it, but tobacco is a drug.

Here on every single establishment that sells cigarettes there are signs stating it is illegal... does she not believe it is? If it is illegal for underage kids to purchase them, what makes her think it is ok for her to?
