What is the name of your state? NJ

My house burned completely to the ground November 7, 2006. The cause was ruled undeterminable which caused some problems with the insurance company. I hired a public adjuster and thought everything was good. I still have not receved a dime from my adjuster, so I contacted my claims adjuster from the insurance company. He sent me copies of all the checks that had been disbursed to my PA. All this money was sent to the PA in September 2007. It is now April 2008 and I still have not gotten any money. Is it legal for him to keep MY money so long? What can I do. Every time I call him I get one excuse after another - he's out of town or I'll call you at end of week and the call never comes. Any help????

first you should file a department of insurance (DOI) complaint the state will be on the adjuster immediately.
also, public adjusters are worthless. No one has to use their services, and they only get money by being "ambulance chasers" and going to people's homes when there has been a tragedy to get a cut of the damage from the insurance company.
