What is the name of your state? :) TEXAS.:) I live in a small town here in North Central texas. Population; 15,400+/- some. What is the requirement for avertising a legal notice in a local newspaper regarding a Planning and Zoning Commission Public Hearing? By that I mean, how many days prior to the meeting is the notice required to be published? I have read Texas Local Government Code Chapters 21 and 211, but am unclear of the posting requirements in regards to the P&Z public hearings. Your help in deciphering this is greatly appreciated. Thank you. What is the name of your state? TEXAS

Ask the city attorney.

How very unfortunate to receive a reply of this nature. In asking the city attorney, we find that the answer is different, depending on the day or person who asks the question. I had really hoped to get an independent answer from someone associated with this group.

The purpose of these forums is to give general answers to general questions. You asked a pretty specific question and the esteemed SJ gave you the proper answer. The real answer you your question is probably part of the town/city charter or a local ordnance, of course you decided that information did not need to be part of your post. The city attorney is responsible to your town complying with the laws established by the town and state. We can't help it if you didn't like the answer you received from your elected officials. If you didn't like the opinion someone here gave you, what would be your next step? Give that man a brownie button if he says hire an attorney!!!!!
