undefinedWhat is the name of your state?

Washington and California states are involved

Hello. I have an unresolved legal issue. I have been teaching English/Reading at a certain California public high school for over eight years. I was a good, solid employee who always helped kids at lunch, afterschool or before school. Never late or complaining to administrators.

Our contract agreement with the district was approved and signed at the end of July, 2005. Fast forward to August 5, 2005. My husband received, and accepted, a job offer in Washington State. This job required us to move out of our rental home and move by the end of August, 2005.

I tried to be as profesisonal as possible. I went into the District office August 8,2205, with my formal resignation and husband in tow as a witness. The h.r. person assured us that finding a replacement teacher might take several weeks, but that the district would dind someone as soon as possible.

Well, long stiry short. Weeks went by with no replacement. We moved all our things to Washington and I said goodbye to hubby for over 3 weeks!

I had to stay with relatives and mooch off them during this time apart. I heard story after story what peron was coming in to take over my job, but nothing ever came through. Finally, I'd had it!

I told the students goodbye, e-mailed the admin I was leaving and even got a 2 week stress related dr/s excuse (sick leave)...

I left great lesson plans and called for a long term sub...

Now, the district is trying to strip me of my California credential and trying to harass me in other ways as well.

In the meantime, I traveled to WA. found a new job and am still sending fresh lesson plans to the sub in CA.

What should I do to protect myself and stop this small mindedness?

I had to leave.

Exactly how are they trying to strip you of your credential in CA? On what grounds?

And what "harassment" are they trying?

If they have a beef due to a violation of your contract, that is a civil matter that they can take you to court for, but I can't see that they can touch your credential.

It does seem petty. But then, I have seen school districts do some very odd things over the years.
