I live in Indiana. My husband put a deposit down on a puppy on the 19 of Dec. as a christmas gift for me. The breeder called on the 24th and told him she had got her foot hurt in a child gate. That they had to take her to the vet after he saw her for treatment. The meds. the vet gave her made her break out. We called our vet he said it could have happened this way not to be afraid of getting her. We pick her up on the 27th, the breeder said if we took her she wanted nothing more to do with her. In trying to save my puppy I called the vets the breeder had her at. They told me she had been sick since Dec 6 with the skin problem. The breeder knew that she was sick and may not make it when my husband saw her the first time. What are the odds that we can get our $300 for the puppy back and maybe even the $200 vet bills to try and save her. Thank you Marci

Get the sellers vet to sign a statement about the puppy, take your receipts and sue in small claims court. The seller should have never sold a sick dog. Just like having a used car checked out by a mechanic, you should have had the puppy checked out by your vet prior the purchasing it. But I think suing would be appropriate in this case.
