What is the name of your state? Illinois

I bought a pair of (what I thought were authentic) Designer jeans, but later realized that they were fake. The fact that they were fake was not advertised on the site and this is what I'm wondering: aren't I suppose to be made "whole" as I was before I purchased these fake jeans? I was refunded what I paid for the jeans, but not what I paid to send them BACK to the seller - I had to pay using my own money to ship them back.

Are there any laws that protect buyers against fraudulent sellers like the one I'm dealing with? It's not even about the money, it just really ticks me off that ((( I ))) have to pay because this piece of s**t seller tried to make a quick buck by selling something as being real when it wasn't.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Generally it is apparent that a "designer" item is fake, because the price to purchase the fake is so much lower than the price to buy an original. The smart consumer knows this and will avoid those designer "deals" that look too good to be true.

Those who sell fake designer items are breaking the law and designers will often go after them for trademark infringement. The infringers face jail time and often hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damages when caught (which they often are). Designers are pretty vigilant when it comes to monitoring sites that sell look-alikes and rip-offs on their trademarked labels, and they are ready, willing and financially able to sue when they locate the infringers.

As for your situation, you must realize that when you deal with a law-breaker, you cannot expect them to do anything that an honest person would do. In other words, you were lucky to have been refunded any money at all - as someone who breaks the law by selling fakes is probably not going to feel too bad about keeping all of your money, either. By only having to pay shipping costs, you seem to have gotten off pretty well.

My advice: Avoid purchasing new "designer" items from any site other than those authorized by the designer to sell their label.
