What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey

Purchases a car advertised as having AWD (all wheel drive). Only to find out that it is rear wheel drive. I have screenshots and printouts from their website that the vin number comes with all wheel drive. Also have a witness, that I specifically ask the salesman if it has AWD and he said yes it does. It's been a week and I found out the hard way yesterday while stuck in snow that it is rear wheel drive. What are my options? I want to know my course of action before I go back to the dealer so at least besides the issue, I know what I'm talking about. Thanks.

Did you buy the same car that was advertised? In other words, is the VIN on the car you bought the same VIN as the car that was advertised?

Yes. 100%. The car I bought is same vin number listed in advertisement on dealers website. I'm surprised it's still listed.

If the VIN shows that it has AWD, and there is nothing obvious to say otherwise to cause you to notice, why do you think the dealer knew?

What year, make & model are we talking about?
Is it possible the AWD system is merely malfunctioning, as opposed to being absent?

1: The used dealer site advertises that car vin number as having AWD front and center.
2: The manufacturer site shows that vin number doesn't.
3: To answer your question of , why do I think the dealer would know, I'll counter with, what is the definition of false advertising, and who is to be held for deception? The dealer or the consumer?

You have adequate grounds for rescission of contract. It matters not whether seller was aware that the vehicle was not as advertised.
