What is the name of your state? Virginia
I just purchased a 99 nissan maxima from a private seller off of craigslist. He had it advertised as having a water pump problem only. I went to look at the car and he reassured me it was just the water pump and nothing else. I drove it and it seemed fine, so i purchased it for 3200. I take it to the shop the next day and the mechanic calls me with news that its the engine block and so the whole engine needs replacement - $1800. I called the seller and he keeps insisting I take it to his mechanic to "patch things" for a cheaper cost at which he will agree to pay half. Sounds like hes willing to pay back about 300-400. I was told VA law states that the seller must take the car back if he advertises it wrongly. Is this correct? what can I tell the seller to convince him to return my money aside from him just being moral.
P.S. I have no written warrany, except for the printout of the ad which clearly states the water pump is the only problem and nothing else.
Thanks.
