What would be the reasons one would want to file an appearance as opposed to an answer/ counterclaim?
What are the advantages/disadvantages to filing this way?
Is all the other paperwork still the same?
I cant seem to find much information on it other than what one looks like and that it is an option.
Thanks

An “appearance” in this sense is the filing of a written response to the complaint; whether it be an answer/reply to the complaint, a preliminary motion or simply a formal notice that the person or thing is formally appearing as a party to the lawsuit.

And not as often misunderstood to mean personal attendance.

So is it something that is used to buy more time time to file a counterclaim?
Is it even used much anymore? Like an old law that is fading away?
Even here after 40 views there is only one reply.
