I put in my 2 weeks notice in the am. They fired me in the pm. I don't have a good relationship with my boss. They sited flexibility, reliability, and performance. I worked late often, except when I had to go to National Guard drill. I have written proof that I performed to standard. All the materials I make are logged into a log-book. I was only late once, and only missed three days work (due to legit reasons). I believe I was fired because my boss did not like me personally. She has had problems with others in the company. I never receive any negative performance feedback. I was quitting because I am going back to school.
I have never been fired before and don't want this on my record. I was a good employee. What can I do?

Fired after giving notice.

Most people are employees at will and have no employment contracts or union contracts that protect them. That means that a boss can fire them at will for any legal reason other than discrimination on the basis of such things such as race, color, creed, etc. or no reason at all. If there is an employment contract, or a union, that's different.
