What is the name of your state you are discussing (only U.S. law)? Illinois
What is the name of your country? United Kingdom

Hello,

I am a 17 year old male who currently resides in, and is a resident of the United Kingdom, in England. Age of consent laws here are 16.

My girlfriend is 16 years old who lives in, and is a resident of the United States of America, in Illinois. Age of consent laws are 17 there.

My question is in regard about the AOC laws over in Illinois. Illinois AOC laws determine a "child" to be a person under the age of 17. This would classify my girlfriend to be a "child" in Illinois.

So far I have reached a slight confusion as to whether or not this means that what we have done during our relationship could be classified as "sexual exploitation" of a "child".

This is also considerate since, embarrassingly enough to say even while keeping anonymous especially on the internet, content such as sexual exposure for the purpose of arousal with consent and as well as exchange of sexual text in chats has been exhibited between us.

Even if this is illegal, another question arises. (How) would this affect me considering I am in the United Kingdom?

Another note is that this relationship was ongoing when we were both still aged 16 at the time.

Thank you.

Sending sexual pictures of either of you over the internet is a crime in BOTH countries, as far as I am aware. Both of you are under 18. I don't know how England feels about kiddie porn, but we take it quite seriously here, and your girlfriend could be prosecuted and made to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

Other then that, it doesn't much matter what you do as there is no physical contact between you. But you can't really call her your girlfriend, either, not in any practical sense.
