I live in Indiana. On December 7, 2008, I signed a 12 month lease for an apartment. I have been looking for houses and am all set to move out on this date (2009). But then I notice that my lease states that it doesn't expire until Jan. 31, 2010. (But right next to that, it says - Lease Term, 12 months). I asked the property manager why it said this and she said it was a mistake, it should say Dec. 31, 2009 and that all their leases expire at the end of the month in which you signed, but no one ever told me this. Since there is a mistake on the lease and because I was told it was a straight 12 month lease, I was wondering if there is a possibility that I would be able to get out of it on Dec. 17?

Make your landlord know of your plans to move out on the 17th and that the end-date on the lease is incorrect in light of the mention of 12 months.

If your lease has an AGGREGRATE amount of rent for the entire time, calculate that and see how long it pays.
