What is the name of your state? Michigan

What if an employee of a company knows about certain illegal activity of another co-worker or a boss or if an employee knows of a co-oworker/boss providing false information to other employees/customers/etc. about sales or other important information.

Would it be illegal if the employee were to blackmail the co-worker/boss by saying if they didn't give them a raise or some sort of benefit that they would tell the police (if its an illegal activity) or the board members (if it is providing false information to other employees/customers/etc)?

Thank you.
