What is the name of your state?ny

My husband has a judgement against him for 10,000 on a promisory note between he and an individual for a business loan that was signed in 1996, the judgement was filed in March of 1999, because of unforseen circumstances and an illness that he has, he went out of business and was not able to pay.

In November of 2003 he had his bank account frozen and 850.00 taken out of his bank account. Then back in april 2004 he had another account frozen and about 400. taken out.

We had an attorney contact her attorney and tried to negotiate by paying her 6,000 and the attorney said that she would not negotiate.

When I accessed his credit report All three credit reporting agencies had:

Status: Satisfied/paid
Closing date: 11/2003
Action amount: 9717

Is this account closed and done with or is the Attorney still trying to collect?

I am located in NY

Go directly to the courthouse in which the judgement was filed. Research for the docket #. Request a copy of all information related to the judgement. From that you should be able to determine the status verses what is being reported in the credit report.
