Hello! I am having an issue with one of my creditors (USAA Mastercard). this past year they have managed to credit our payment to the wrong account 6 different times, and of course we are called and hounded to death till they finally fix it. It takes many faxes of the cancelled checks to get them to fix it. We have tried an allotment out of my hubby's paycheck but the rejected the second payment and then called and harressed us to no end. And have not and will not tell us why it was rejected. Now were are in the same boat, they got our payment, cashed the check ( has cleared) and who knows what account it got credited to. I sent them the copy of the cancelled check and my April payment certified mail, RR, and they denied it. It was sent back to me. They are calling me 3 and 4 times a day about the payments. What can I do about these people? I have no problem making my payments, but we are getting sick of them not credting our account. It is getting to the point why pay them if we are not going to get credit for it. Any ideas would help.

Sounds to me like its time to go higher with your valid complaints than the phone drones they have in 'customer service'. I'd try and get a name and address of a company officer, VP or some such and send them a letter with a complete outline of your problems with their ineptitude in property crediting your account.

You could also try registering a complaint at www.planetfeedback.com. Its my understanding that complaints there get directed to higher-ups in the company food chains and people DO get excellent results.

If your credit is still good then take out another card and transfer the balance. Sounds like you need to get away from these people.

In the meantime be sure to write your account number on the check and staple your coupon and the check together. They don't like this but I had similar problems with one company until I started doing it.

Another idea would be to set up a separate bank account at another bank and do an automatic draft each month. This is a lot of trouble but may be your best solution until the card is paid off.
