Question about getting my wife in the states

i'm in the u.s. army. i'm stationed at ft. bliss, tx.
i got married in korea at the embassy in seoul on 05 feb 2001 to a korean citizen. i came on orders to come to ft. bliss. the army wouldn't let me stay in korea. i have applied for the marriage visa at the texas service center. is there a way for my wife to wait here in t.x. on the marriage visa.

From what I understand there is not a way for you wife to wait in the US while you are waiting for all your paperwork to come through. I believe the INS is working on a K3 Visa that will make that possible in the future. You can read about it at:

pnice thanks for the information. i filled the marriage visa with the Texas Service Center. does this center differ from the california service center. again my wife and i greatly appreciate you taking the time to reply. i hope she gets here soon safely.

I think each service center is different. I filed my papers for my husband at the California Service Center. It took about 5 1/2 months for our paperwork to be approved. You might want to call Catholic Charities in you area for more specific information for the Texas Service Center. They can answer a lot of your questions and if you end up having to use there services, most places work on donations. If you need any other help you can email me at [email protected]
