What is the name of your state? Illinois

I have a questions regarding libel over the internet. I recently left my roommate of a year (and friend of five years) and he has since been posting extremely slanderous articles and bulletins about me on myspace (which is ridiculous in itself) at our shared workplace and on a workplace computer. He has accused me of mistreating and not caring for animals, and also has made false comments about my boyfriend being a closeted homosexual. In addition, he has made racial slurs, referring me to a fat wanna-be Mexicana. He has also made comments that I have a dangerous animal (which is not true, as my dog has never bitten anyone), and the environment is such that I can easily get into trouble for this. Not only that, but he is sending this bulletins out to former alumni at my school that we both know, co-workers of mine, and other various shared aquantinces.
I believe he has since deleted or protected the articles. One I could not read at all because he protected it. But I do have small comments about myself he left on my own personal site.
So, the question is, is there any case or not? I think the comment at least about my boyfriend being gay (which is definately false) is something. Not sure, though.

Out of all of that, you are really only concerned that your ex is bad-mouthing your current boyfriend?
If that's the case, then you have no case.

You do not have standing to sue over comments made about your bf, unless he is accusing your bf of something so horrible that your association with him makes you look bad.

I don't think you have any idea what qualifies as defamatory so you would need to show someone the context and the exact statements made, before anyone could tell you if they amount to libel.

FYI, it would cost you at least $10,000 and several years to sue the guy and then even if you win he may not be able to pay the judgment. That said, I would send him a cease and desist letter.
