About three months ago my huband went a money center and got some money from them. Before his schedule payment he called the center and talked to an employee and told him not to sent the check threw he would come and pay cash because we we changing banks. The gentleman said ok and my husband came in and paid the guy and asked him was that all we owed. The gentleman said yes and gave us a close out reciept. Well three weeks later we got a phone call stated that we still owed money come to find out the check had been set threw before we closed our account even though we told him not to send it. We are going to pay it because it was sent threw before our account was closed. Now today I guess the manager from the company called one of our references and left a messegae for us to call them but she also told them that we had these bad check and seh told her the amount and all of our business. So I called her and told her that that was very unperfessinal and she said by law it was ok for her to tell our reference because she wasn't a third party. My husband then called her and she told him that we owed $1200 but if he paided today we could settle it for $600. I don't understand how the guy checked before he gave us a close out reciept said we owed nothing else and gave us a close out reciept. Now all of a sudden we own $1200 can the make us pay?
