What is the name of your state? south dakota
m boyfriend received 2 DUIs in south dakota in '01 and '02 and then received another in '06 in nebraska. he is on probation for another 2 1/2 yrs. we want to move out of south dakota but his probation officer says that no state will accept someone on probation. this doesn't seem right to me. is this true?

It's ultimately up to the PO to give permission or not .

With DUIs out of two states , a transfer is unlikely .

Why would any state want your friend to move there?

Think about it...really hard and long.

I was actually posting this as a legal question, seniorjudge, not an ethics debate. I thought this site was for those of us without a law degree to ask questions in order to know more about our rights as citizens of this country. If I was mistaken, and this is a site for those with law degrees to belittle those of us who would like to better themselves, I am sorry for posting my question.
By the way, thank you blond lebinese for your reply.
