Question about running for Village Office

What is the name of your state? Wisconsin
We had a Village Trustee who was elected last April. He resigned in June, as he did not feel that he had control over the Village Board as he had in the past. Currently there are a couple of positions this April. He has stared a Write in position to regain his seat on the board, as it is now filled with his friends.
Can he fill this position if elected, as he did not fill his former term in Office, or does he have to wait until his original term expires?What is the name of your state?
