What is the name of your state?

My six-month lease to my apartment expired in the middle of January, I called my landlord twice during the last two months about a renewal. He told me both times he would "he would get back with me" and then later he said he would "draw one up and give it to me".

Well, it's February, lease has expired - I've paid February's "rent" and he has already cashed the check without saying a word.

I haven't heard anything back from him. What should I do? I know I should get a lease ASAP! But what could the consequences be?

I've been in the apartment for a year now, and usually he's all business, but now he's acting like a lease means nothing.

I thought you said the lease had expired. So the lease has expired, yet you complain that "he's acting like a lease means nothing?" The lease expired!!! What part of the lease required the landlord to renew the lease?

Just move. That's your remedy.

The lease expired.

What I meant was this: since he has not given me a new lease, it seems that giving out new leases are not important all of a sudden. Which is weird, because he was all business before.
