What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Virginia

Hi,

My name is Wahaj and I have to little brothers. One evening my smallest brother went outside to play and wandered off into an area unbeknownst to me and my other brother. He was returned via a good samaritan. Now a social worker is after us telling us to put the kids in a daycare or something while none of us are home. My middle brother is old enough (13) to watch him how ever my smallest brother ran off that day being very sneaky. Additional info: My mother is a single mother and we are working middle class. I go to college and get good grades and my little brother is a Straight A student while the smallest one is bright but hyper (he is 7 and is the one that wandered off).
Now this social worker is forcing us to put the kids into a program we can not afford and is going to prove difficult to get the kids to and from due to my moms work and my college schedule. This social worker is not taking no for an answer. Does she have the legal power to force us to put the kids into a place for a one time negligence issue? What would be the repercussions of telling her to quit it and leave us alone because this was a one shot event?

Thanks for your time and I do hope some one answers sooner than later.

The possible repercussion is that your little brother is pulled out of the home and placed in foster care.

This incident has shown that neither you nor your 13 year old brother, despite good grades, being in college (etc. etc.) has the ability to watch over the little guy safely.
