My teen was turned in to cps for alcohol & drug abuse from a friend. I have been trying to find a behavioral place for her, but not successful yet. I've had trouble with her for about 2 years now, truancy, and curfew violations. She isn't an addict. She has been home schooled since november because of the constant truancy issues and she's been in counseling several times. I have tried to get her in a treatment center but she won't go, and the center won't take her unless its voluntary. Its been a constant problem, anyway her friend was concerned for her and called cps and they want me to call them, but I think that I should get an attorney first? But don't really know, could anyone helP?

You have not been able to control your child for two years. Take ANY help you can get. Seriously. It seems her minor (?) friend had the sense to call the proper place for help when you didn't. That is very....disturbing. TAKE THE HELP.

I have tried counseling and constant taking off work to talk to prinicipals and etc. This girl isn't perfect either by no means, I have worked with various places but unless you have money, its hard to find appropriate help. I am not a parent that just lets it happen and let them learn, everyone that knows me knows that I have talked to everyone that I thought could help.

Although I have "issues" with CPS they CAN be an excellent resource for help. Consult an attorney for your options...But my PERSONAL advice would be to seek any and ALL resources available.

I also understood this to be a friend of your daughter's. In which case s/he is likely more aware of how serious your child's problem may be. ITA that your way hasn't worked for two years - it's time to ramp it up and get help from any quarter willing to offer it.

Yes, CPS can sometimes be a bit strong-armed, but at this point... you/your daughter need the help. At the very least, your daughter needs a reality check - you should both be thanking her friend for providing it.
