What is the name of your state? California
State of the hosting company? Nevada

I'm in a unique situation here. The hosting company I've been using had double charged me for a period of time last year. I recently found out about this and requested reimbursement. I was told that the company was acquired by the current owner half way through the period where I was being double charged. They agreed to reimburse me for only the period after the acquisition, but told me I would have to pursue the other half with the previous ownership.

That doesn't make sense to me. I would think that the acquiring company would be responsible for all debts associated with the company when they take over - even unforseen debts.

That would depend on the purchase agreement between the previous and current owners. You won't know till you contact the previous owners.

I was told that since a year has passed that I might not have any legal recourse in this situation. Is this true? Is there a time limit on when you can take action in a case like this?
