What is the name of your state? GA

Many here have mentioned that they have debt that has passed the Statute of limitations because there has been no activity on old accounts for years. To those people:

How did you manage to avoid getting taken to court for 4 to 6 years? Did you just ignore the collectors' calls until they stopped? Did you move a lot? Change your phone number? or make other efforts to avoid your creditors? Or, do you think you just fell through the cracks and were forgotten about for years?

I don't believe this site is best served by advising deadbeats how to avoid paying bills.

Well first off, not all Creditors or CA's consider it worthwhile to pursue a debt through the courts, this may be for several reasons:

It is a small debt, not worth the trouble to pay filing fees, pay attorneys and etc.

They may realize the debtor is insolvent, and they have no means with which to pay the money owed.

Many of them hope to intimidate debtors into paying, without having to put money and time into the court process.

In some cases they may investigate the person(s) and find they have no properties or income in their state that aren't judgment exempt so to go to court would be further waste of their money.

Moving sometimes stops the calls for awhile, but if you have a phone and address, they will find you again. In some states, moving out of state only pauses the collection statues. I think you will find that very few people move, just to avoid paying their debts. They all catch up with you sooner or later.
