What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Iowa I am being sued by the first credit card company and want to know is I have to appear in small claims court. I do owe it and plan on filing bankruptcy but not til March.:confused:

You're not required to appear if, that's your question. You'll get a default judgment returned against you and your judgment creditor can then start collecting. They can garnish wages and levy your bank account. You might want to close any bank account and live on a cash basis until you file.
