What is the name of your state? Maryland

My husband and I are separated. I have not had any contact with him since he left and do not know where he is or how to contact him. My question is, am I responsible for credit cards and loans that are in his name only?

Maryland is NOT a community property state, so you should not be liable for any debts that he incurs solely in his name.... as long as your signature is not on the application.

Thank you for your quick reply!

I am listed as an authorized user on at least one of his credit cards, does that change anything?

I am not an attorney but if I were you I would try to remove my name off his credit cardand notify the credit company that you are not together and if you never sign it tell them that too.

I have tried that, I called the credit card companies and requested that my name be removed, but I was told that only my ex can do that. Even though he listed me as an authorized user, I never signed the initial application for credit and I have never used any of the cards. Thanks for your advice.

First, ignore 'soontobe' as he/she clearly does not understand that your name, even as an authorized user, is NOT on the card or account ("if I were you I would try to remove my name off his credit card").

There are several creditors out there that may try to claim you, as an authorized user, are responsible, but you are not. For more on this, go to:
