What is the name of your state? Washington
I have had problems with ATT Wireless. Back in 2000 our service was cut due to nonpayment. I called and told them that I had made the payment. I sent a copy of the cancelled check (front & back) to them RRR. I later recieved a letter stating that my proof was not good enough, they needed more. So after sending them a copy of the check and bank statement and letter for the accounting dept. saying it had cleared, they refused to fix it. It was sent to a collection agency and I again sent all proof of the paid debt, and a dispute letter. Well Att charged off the debt and REFUSES to accept proof or dispute letters from us and the collection agency. What can we do. It should have never been charged off and it should have disputed on the credit report. Any advice would be helpful. We have no idea what to do next.

Do you mean the collection agency agrees with you when you say ATT won't accept dispute letters from them {the CA} ?

Have you demanded validation from the CA? If not do so and send it CRRR. Also, go to www.ftc.gov and start reading up on the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The OC has an obligation to report correct information to the CRA's. You may also file a complaint online with the FTC. I'd also complain to the FCC and to your states AG and Public Service Commission.

Yes. ATT has refused the dispute letter and proof of payment. The collection agency tried to give them the info and they refused to accept it. That is when ATT charged it off. We have disputed it with the CRA and it always come back a valid debt. When we try to question ATT about it, they tell us it is not their problem but ours. And the collection agency cant help us either, ATT wont except the paperwork. All ATT wants is the money. We have told them that we will not pay for something that we do not owe.
