What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FL

My wife and recently moved to the states, a couple of months. A process server came by saying I needed to sign for some legal documents from a creditor which is obvious for non-payment or something.

I told this server they have the wrong person, this is someone with a similar name but not the same, for example, Angelia versus Angela. middle initials are totally different and this other person has always lived in Florida. What are my rights if the process server returns again.

I'm thinking this creditor's attorney pulled some directory or something of people moving to the area and assumed it was me. Thanks for the advice.

If in reading the document you learned the similarities in the names, you must also have noticed that the name, address and telephone number of the plaintiff’s attorney plainly appeared.

So wouldn’t it be prudent that you call the attorney and explain the error?

Latigo, thanks for the comments, perhaps I should have been more clearer. This guy came by and asked for Angelia S, the person who I told them it wasn't was Angela D. The person wouldn't let me see anything other than that unless I signed for these documents.

This person I'm familiar with and this person they are trying to see of two totally different people. However, thanks for the advice I'll be sure to have this person
ask the process server for the attorney information in case they stop by again.
