I am from the state of PA. I reciently purchased a vehicle (or so I thought). The credit union I have my paycheck directly deposited at, had pre-approved me for a $12000.00 loan. That day, I found a vehicle that met the specifications set forth by the Credit Union. The salesman called and spoke to a loan rep., and the deal was okay'd by the CU (Credit Union) for 12900.00. With my mother acting as the co-signer. As a note: I had my other vehicle repossessed at the suggestion of the underwriter at the CU the next day (after I already had the "new car") The "paperwork" was prepared and signed by me, and the dealer representative at the dealer, and I drove away with the vehicle. I was told the paperwork would be ready at the CU for me to sign later that night. When I got there the paperwork was not ready, and was told to come back on Friday to sign the paperwork. On Thursday (this week) I received a letter stating that my loan was not approved (I have evidence it was)under any circumstances (unless my mother would become the primary lender). I went to the CU and spoke to them, telling them my other vehicle had been repossessed (at their suggestion), and now because they had renigged on the contract, I have no vehicle to drive. Their comment was "sorry, we tried to contact you." I asked the CU rep. what would have happened if I had come in and signed the loan paperwork the night I was told it would be ready, and what would have happened if I took the check to the dealer, and they told me "it would have slipped through, and no one would have been the dumber." They had not tried to contact me, because I have a machine, and caller I.D. Today (Saturday) I had to turn the vehicle in (or get arrested for theft of an auto), and again, now I have no vehicle to drive to and from work (12 miles one way). The dealer (salesman) told me the deal was okay'd, the CU told me the deal was okay'd, and now I don't know what to do. Do I have any legal recourse, or not? Should I contact an attorney or not? Please contact me A.S.A.P. at my e-mail address. Thank You in advance.
