What is the name of your state? California
In selling my deceased mother's home the attorney for my siter recommended his real estate agent who immediately had an offer which had no name of buyuer/offerer and was for over $100k less than the house was listed for shortly after and $125k less than it sold for within 1 week of listing. The real estate agent seems to work out of an office who says he does not work there when you call them, yet he still makes appointments to meet clients there. Should I complain to the Cal Bar Assoc.?

**A: yes and to the Board of Realtors, BBB and to the state regulatory agencies for licensed attorneys and real estate agents respectively.

Why?? Because the agent made you a 'below the market' offer??
Nothing illegal or improper about that at all.

The offer was yours to accept or decline. You smartly chose the latter.

questionable offer

I guess I agree that nothing sticks out as being illegal with that offer. It seems odd to me, however that an attorney is working with the sleazy real estate agent. Smells like a scheme between the two of them to make money off people who are dealing with someone close who just died. BOTH attorneys said it was a good offer. We are in th eprocess of hiring a new attorney, but considering this one has about $12k of our hard earned cash and we have not so much as a photo belonging to my mother, it all seems a bit strange. We thought we were so wise to hire an attorney. The house sold fast, but that is the only positive in the whole mix. The proceeds have been sitting in an escrow account since May.
btw Thanks very much for responding.
