I had my child for about a year, by court order my ex-wife is the custodial parent. My wife had verbally agreed to send the child support checks to help with expenses, but she never did. I had my daughter for 9 months, and I am going to court to get arrearments (credit for having her). I don't know how I can argue a case that will get me more then just credit. My ex-wife has been getting the checks, and then the IRS gave her my tax-refund to pay some of the back child support. But the time I had well exceeds the amount I owe for back child support.

If you have had your child in your physical custody for that long of period, you should have notified both the court and support enforcement and had the orders changed. You say you owe a back support debt...and also that she has been getting her support checks...which way is it? You say you owe back support...how does it feel to have the absent parent not pay anything to take care of a child?
