I'm helping my coworker out b/c he is clueless too often. Anyway, last week he got his paycheck and looky looky, there was $300 taken out and next to it said garnishment.
He has several creditors and or collectors calling him asking for money..etc
How, what and why are my questions
:
1- I was under impression that creditors/collectors had to sue a person in order to get a judgement against them IE: wage garnishment. True?
2- He has a court date sometime next month (i dont know the details). Can he negotiate with the creditors and have the judgment cleared? IF yes; how common is it for this to happen?
Tid bits: He's 25 and doesnt really have any assets other than a 2 mid 90's cars he owns. I should have asked him if he missed any court dates b/c that could explain the garnishment but i didnt
