What is the name of your state? California
This outrageously shady online DVD rental service subjected me to the following:
- Claimed to have out-of-print movies it does not have in order to lure in customers.
- Claimed that desirable movies are "available to ship" when it's not time to ship, and when it IS time to ship, the same movies are suddenly "unavailable" (status changes within minutes!).
- Delayed shipping of DVDs (shipping times longer than advertised) and delayed notification of receipt of DVDs returned in order to ensure that by the time customers cancel, they have passed the next billing date (company requires receipt of DVDs before they cancel account -- no grace period, as is standard with Netflix & Blockbuster -- so it's in their best interest NOT to have the DVDs in hand at the next billing date)
- Promised in wriring to issue a refund, but once they received the DVDs, blocked any requests for refunds.
Similar problems experienced by other people can be found at http://www.dvdrr.com/reviews/QwikFliks.html. If this were a company as big as Netflix, they'd have lawsuits aplenty. I plan to get my money back from my credit card company for the extra month they charged (especially since they have blocked my account and so I'm paying for something I can't even use!), but I want QuikFliks to pay somehow -- not necessarily monetarily (although that would be fine), but I can't believe that they continue to exist with such blatantly fishy practices. Do I have any viable recourse? What is the name of your state?
