My husband and I filed bankruptcy two years ago. Long story short our rental property that we filed in our bankruptcy did not go through forclosure. The mortgage company will not take back possession of the house. We have no financial obligation to them, but they said we are still responsible for the property because it is still in our name. They said they would take a short payoff or negotiated settlement. I was wondering if we could quit claim the property to the city since we have no financial obligation. Is this possible or not?
