We had been discriminated by a property manager and were refused for tenancy and we have proof to prove in court. Now the property management company is ready for settlement and government agency is asking what is the amount you are expecting for settlement?
What is the maximum amount we can expect as settlement?
I repeat we have strong evidence to prove in court.

First - the government agency will not go to court so if you are being told they will, they are lying...they want a quick settlement which the management co's insurance will have to agree to....demand too much and the insurance co will just stall and the agency will slow down the process until you are reasonable.

Second - the violations are worth $11,000 MAX per violation so it there are 4 violations, they can probably prove 2, so your settlement would be $20,000.

HUGE settlements rarely happen and when they do, they are not paid and the complaintants (that's you) will not get paid.

In this economy, real estate agents are electing to give up their licenses, not pay and change jobs....the most the gov can take is what they can get so it is between you and the PM's insurance.

If you are relying entirely on the government agency, you may be at an disadvantage...you should have had an attorney from the get-go to negotiate on your behalf!
