I was renting a very nice basement apartment in a person's house for $650 a month. I moved out after a while and then moved back in after about 3 months. At that time the owner of the house said I could pay $400. Now 15 months later he is saying he wants the rent back up to $650. There is no lease and everything is verbal. Is this legal for him to do, or do I have any recourse?

YES.... move or pay the rent.....

this will teach you dummies to always have a lease, the landlord cannot raise the rent untill a lease is over
