I am the forum administrator of an exotic pet forum. We are currently collecting data in our forum about the sale of an exotic pet by a large retail chain. We feel that the conditions that these animals live in need improvement.

We have a thread on our forum that asks members to post information on the store they purchased the pet from, the conditions that the pet was living in, the date of the sale, the how long the pet survived after purchase. We started this thread because the retail chain asked for statistical information when we contacted their corporate offices about improving the conditions that the animals live in while in the store's care.

A new member joined our forum and said that the retail chain could sue us or our members for posting about them on our message forum. I am wondering what the legal ramifications are for our organization and the members when we post our experiences/opinions about a retail chain. We are trying to avoid "bashing" of this particular store within the thread

Thank you!

Robin
