Hello, I live in California, and a family friend is having a big problem. Her daughter, who just turned 14 years old, was taken advantage of by a 17 year old, who secretly filmed the act, and put it online. We are all supporting her, but it would help greatly to know of any laws that might deal with this issue, as well as anything we would need to know to make sure that the person responsible cannot get away with this and do something similar in the future.

Also, is there any way to bring charges against the websites that allowed child porn to be posted online for anybody to see? I don't have all the specifics, such as what sites and all that, but any help that any of you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

-Thank You

What did the police/DA tell you about this when you reported both crimes?

I'm just a family friend, I don't have all the details, and am just trying to do some research to help them out. I know that the police are having them do a rape kit right now, but that is as much as I am familiar with.

What do you mean by "taken advantage of?" As in, the boy had sex with the girl?

There are potentially two or more felonies involved here.

The police have been called ... right? If not, WHY NOT????

The web sites that host it would have to be reasonably aware that it was child porn. More than likely, they would have the opportunity to purge it before anyone might be charged.

Then you let the police handle it.

The family should also consider a restraining order against the suspect.
