Our franchisor installed equipment in our stores to provide communication services. We were not given any choice about this. We pay the power and the monthly communication service bill. The franchisor uses this service to facilitate communication among it's transportation system and also re-sells access to the communications channel to third parties. Although we pay for everything, we do not profit in anyway. How can this be legal?

It is not in the FOC. No where,in the FOC does it state that a third party, not even the Franchisor, can install and benefit from, the installation of equipment, that the franchisee is financially responsible for maintaining.
